Protective masks can be reused by replacing the filters or using a washable mask. On the other hand, there are single-use masks that have a longer service life. They can last up to 8 hours; check the mask packaging to confirm their extended life. 

It is tested for oil resistance from the outside in; 

  • Class N: no oil resistance
  • Class R: 8-hour oil resistance
  • Class P: long-lasting oil resistance

The number following the class represents the percentage of particle filtering; for example, an N95 mask has no resistance to oil, but filters 95% of breathed-in particles. 

Reminder, general instructions for wearing the mask; 

  • The mask should contain 2 to 3 layers. 
  • It should cover from chin to nose. 
  • When it is wet or even dirty, it should be changed. 
  • Do not let your mask hang from your ears or under your chin. 
  • Do not touch, play, or replace the mask when it is in place on your face. 
  • Respect the direction of the mask, the barrette is worn on the nose. 

In the child; 

  • For less than 2 years, it is not recommended to wear a mask. 
  • From 2 to 5 years, the wearing of the mask must be supervised. 
  • From 5 years of age and older, it is recommended that the mask be worn in public areas where the wearing of the mask is required.
